Only A Wife
Life feels a little empty
Without being a wife
My culture trained me from the age of twelve
On how to be the perfect wife
Life feels a little empty
Without being a wife
While I had been trained
I understand why education was not a priority,
As a perfect wife
Obeys
Stays at home
She’s weak in the eyes of her husband
Qualified in the real world
Made me unqualified to be the perfect wife
A threat to the men of our culture
But I miss being a wife!
Staying at home
A full-time Mum
Meant I had a wonderful husband
Returning to education
Exceeding expectations
Meant I lost my position as the perfect wife
I became a punching bag
A crook
Disappointing
I miss being a wife!
Life feels a little empty
Without being a wife
I’m not trained for single parenthood
I only know how to be a wife
That was meant to be my life
Oh, I miss being a wife!
Although I am becoming successful
I’m not trained to be a single Mum
Of face a career in the real world
I miss being a wife!
I’ve had to adapt to a new life
